Dear Colleagues,
I've processed the FORS2 data on C-000 and C-001 and I have made a
preliminary
assignment of redshifts (see the attached text file).
Both C-000 and C-001 are at z=1.09 (see the attached plots). We do
not see the
SNe (they are too faint), but the hosts are clearly detected. The host
of C-000 is an
elliptical (from the spectral point of view); the host of C-001 is a
galaxy that is actively
forming stars (again from the spectral point of view).
There appears to be two clusters in redshift space, one at z=0.97 (at
least 4 targets) and
the other at z=1.09 (3 targets). These targets are spread out over
several arc minutes
I would like us to discuss two issues at the next teleconference.
A) Should we submit an ESO DDT proposal to confirm the spectral type of
these two
SNe? I would argue yes.
B) Should we ask for ACS follow-up of selected SNe candidates in the
HST proposal that
is currently being prepared?
Regards, Chris.
PS These data were taken during full moon, so the data are noisy at
blue wavelengths.
